Discovering the Magic of Writing

When I first started writing, I never imagined it would lead me to create Moonlit Awakening, my debut dark fantasy romance novel. My journey into writing began during one of the most transformative times of my life: pregnancy. Between sleepless nights, shifting emotions, and the anticipation of motherhood, I found myself drawn to storytelling. It became a way to process, dream, and escape. Writing was both a refuge and a way to give life to worlds I had always imagined.

At first, it was just a few lines here and there, scribbled in notebooks while my baby napped. Over time, these notes evolved into scenes, and eventually into a full story that demanded to be told. Moonlit Awakening is the culmination of years of imagination, persistence, and a love for dark, enchanting stories.

How Moonlit Awakening Came to Life

The idea for Moonlit Awakening came from my love for fantasy worlds filled with danger, magic, and romance. I grew up inspired by authors like J.K. Rowling and Jane Austen. Both taught me the power of character-driven stories. Rowling’s amazing world-building and Austen’s understanding of human emotion inspired me to create a story that balances magic with heart, adventure with personal growth.

Freya, the main character of my novel, was born from a question I couldn’t ignore: What if a woman discovered her inner power at the very moment she felt most vulnerable? From there, the world of Lycomoria unfolded. My love for wolves inspired me to create a place for werewolves, elemental powers, and a Moon Goddess whose guidance shapes the destiny of all who dwell there.

Writing Freya’s journey was as much about self-discovery as it was about creating a story. Each chapter explores themes of courage, identity, and the complexity of love. I wanted her struggles and triumphs to resonate with readers who, like me, sometimes feel the tension between vulnerability and strength.

Why I Write Dark Fantasy Romance

Fantasy has always been my safe place. It’s a world where anything is possible. But I quickly realized that fantasy alone wasn’t enough for me. I wanted to explore the emotional intensity of romance alongside the thrill of magic and adventure. Dark fantasy romance allows me to do both: the high stakes of survival meet the vulnerability and passion of falling in love.

Writing Through Motherhood

One unique aspect of my writing journey is that I wrote through pregnancy and early motherhood. Juggling new responsibilities, exhaustion, and creativity was not easy. But it was profoundly rewarding.

Some of my most intense writing sessions happened late at night when the world was quiet, and only my imagination was awake. Pregnancy and motherhood brought new ideas to my storytelling. The vulnerability, hope, and fierce protection I felt translated into Freya’s struggles and the challenges she faced in the world of Lycomoria. It also taught me patience. Not just for my characters, but patience with the writing process itself.

Choosing to write under my own name felt like a declaration. Emile Sodyte represents not just me, but the culmination of all the stories I’ve ever wanted to tell.
